The Senator took seriouis notice of the quality of food items in the province. Prof Qureshi referred to the Biorisk Management Initiative of Dairy Science Park calling for documentation and quality control across the farming, processing and marketing networks. Sandia National Laboratories USA have been providing technical support to this initiative and a 18 members delegation of Dairy Science Park would be attending a workshop at Colombo next week.

Dairy Science Park has emerged at the University of Agriculture, Peshawar Pakistan and was registered as a society under Societies’ Registration Act XXI of 1860 (Reg No.4582/5/8589 dated 2-7-2015) by Registrar Joint Stock Companies and Societies, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar, Pakistan and accepted by the United Nations as #SDGAction9671. DSP envisions KP, FATA, and Northern Areas of Pakistan, and the adjoining regions of Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and China as a hub of livestock and poultry entrepreneurs backed up by quality control, R&D, and marketing support organizations, with prosperous people desired under 2030-Agenda for sustainable development of the United Nations. Various provincial dignitaries supported this sacred mission and Mr Inayatullah Khan took the message very seriously and pursued it through release of ADP funds and support of an autonomous DSP Board. He was especially comfortable with the idea of self-accountability through an Endowment Fund, needing no operational fund. Mr Mr Mehtab Abbasi and Mr Akram Durrani has supported the mission as Ex-Chief Ministers KP, Pakistan. The Chairman HEC, Prof Mukhtar Ahmad has been very kind in supporting DSP as Center of Excellence. Mr Arif Yousaf and Mr Mohibullah Khan endorsed the idea as Special Assistants to Chief Minister on Law and Livestock.

The Fourth International Conference and Industrial Exhibition on Dairy Science Park has been scheduled for 1-5 November, 2017, at Selcuk University. The event is continuation of the series held during November 2011, 2013 and 2015 at Peshawar, Pakistan. The three conferences focused on rehabilitation of the postflood Dairy Sector; Halal meat export potential of the Region and entrepreneurshipbased hygienic food production respectively. The fourth event of the series is being held with the theme “Achieving Food Security through Entrepreneurship Development and Biorisk Management”.

The huge livestock resources in KP and FATA could neither provide good economic return to producers nor quality food to consumers because of poor management. Similar wastage of natural resources is being observed throughout the world. Dairy Science Park addressed this issue through academic, developmental, business, and marketing interventions. The model has got some notable achievements and further developments are in pipeline. The United Nations have accepted DSP as #SDGAction9671 and it may prove a model for bringing prosperity to the people of
the developing nations.

We expect rich participation of people from Academia, Industry, Civil Society, Government and Development Agencies, from various parts of the World. It is hoped that this event will prove as a great opportunity for Academia-Government-Industry linkages and a union between the people of East and West on the historic and spiritual city of Konya.

The Senator appreciated the concept of the Dairy Science Park and the achivements made so far. He assured of his support to make the Konya Event a success through faciltiation of visa process, participation of the industries through exhibition of thier products and advocacy of the case at the Higher Education Commission Islamabad.
