DSP Innovations Workshop was held at UA Peshawar

A workshop on Bringing innovations in food value chain for sustainable development in KP and FATA, was held at the University of Agriculture Peshawar as as a part of #SDGAction9671 of the United Nations on March 29, 2017. Mr Muhammad Luqman Khattak, Director General Sustainable Development Unit, Planning and Development Unit was the Chief Guest and Dr Saadia Haneef, Livestock Advsior Farming Dynamics was the Guest of Honor at the Workshop. Prof Umer Sadique, Chairman Animal Health welcomed the participants and the Dean FAHVS/Chief Patron Dairy Science Park, Prof M Subhan Qureshi introduced the objectives of the Workshop. 

Presentation on Farm Dynamics Pakistan was made by Dr Saadia Haneef, Livestock Advisor. Milk adulteration – a challenge and solutions through government-academia-industry linkages was presentedby Dr Sher Bahadar Khan, Animal Health Department, UAP. Farmers issues and hopes from the Dairy Science Park were highlighted by Khanzadar Ahmad Kamal. Remarks of the Chief Guest, Mr Muhammad Luqman, DG Sustainable Development comprised a realization of the ground realities by the government officials and different ongoing and proposed programs for various departments. Special reference was made to the ongoing projects on agricultural innovations, for which the Farm Dynamics Pakistan were invited to participate for introduction of new technologies and practices in KP. The Faculty Members were invited to participate in the development process for technology transfer to the farmers.

Vote of thanks was presented by Prof M Subhan Qureshi with the hope to minimize the gap between the academe, government and the industry through the proposed Task Force on Dairy Science Park to provide administrative, financial, legal and technical support for self employment of the youth and hygienic food production for the people of the Region. D Shah Murad Khan and Mr Bilal Islam, doctoral students facilitated the smooth running of the event.
